Learning module Overview
Functions, limits, and continuity
Establish the language of functions, make approaching behavior precise, and use continuity to justify conclusions.
What this chapter builds
A calculus statement concerns a function and the behavior of its values. Before discussing limits, we need to specify which inputs are allowed, what the notation means, and what a graph can establish. We then study limits and continuity, with assumptions stated explicitly.
The first lesson below establishes the chapter’s mathematical foundation. The remaining planned lessons appear in the Calculus I course outline.
